Welcome to the wonderful, bubbly world of sourdough! In this hands-on workshop, just six junior bakers will take over the Tiny House to master the science of starter cultures. We’re teaching the science of fermentation life cycles—showing kids how a "living" starter needs food to stay happy and how we can turn the leftovers into the crunchiest, most flavorful crackers ever. It’s a high-end baking experience that proves nothing in the kitchen should go to waste!
Welcome Pairing: Junior chefs start with a tasting of artisan crackers paired with cheese and our signature NC strawberry jam.
Rolling Station: Kids will get hands-on rolling and cutting the dough, learning the technique of rolling it paper-thin and baking for that perfect "snap"
Topping Bar: From sea salt to garden herbs, students will customize their cracker flavors to suit their own palates.
The Living Starter: How to "feed" and care for a sourdough culture (it’s like a kitchen pet!).
Sustainable Baking: The light science of using "discard" to add tang and nutrition to snacks.
Flavor Mastery: Kids will learn hour sour, salty, and spices come together to make food more flavorful and nutritious
The Signature Batch: A container of the hand-rolled, custom-topped crackers they baked in class.
The Starter Jar: Their very own jar of active sourdough starter to take home, feed, and use for future baking adventures.
